When Ana Caroline Porto (34) went for her first ultrasound, she expected to hear the heartbeat of one long-awaited baby. Instead, she and her husband Leandro Machado (39) were left in stunned silence — there were four! 😱

“I remember thinking, How am I going to manage four babies at home?” Ana Caroline shared, while Leandro remained speechless, overwhelmed by the extraordinary news. Their lives were about to change in ways they never imagined.

After 46 days in the NICU at Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Porto Alegre, the four newborns — Lavinia, Larissa, Heitor, and Lauren — are finally ready to head home to Bagé, healthy, thriving, and full of personality. 💖

🌈 A Dream Years in the Making
The couple had long hoped to become parents. Three years after deciding the time was right, Ana Caroline conceived naturally. While multiples ran in their families, quadruplets were beyond anyone’s expectations.
Dr. Marco Reichelt, head of Neonatology, explained:
“The chance of naturally conceiving quadruplets is about one in 700,000. Even more extraordinary, three babies were conceived at the same time, and a fourth arrived a few days later.” 😮

⚠️ A High-Risk Journey
From early on, Ana Caroline was on strict bed rest due to early bleeding and the inherent risks of a high-order pregnancy. Friends and family pitched in to prepare the home, transforming it into a nursery fit for four — cribs, toys, and lilac-and-white décor ready for the unexpected arrival.

🏥 The Big Day — October 27
Labor came suddenly while Ana Caroline was taking a bath. Within minutes, the medical team delivered the quadruplets via cesarean:

👶 Lavinia – 1.336 kg, 38 cm (3:26 p.m.)
👶 Larissa – 1.234 kg, 35 cm (3:27 p.m.)
👶 Heitor – 1.284 kg, 37 cm (3:29 p.m.)
👶 Lauren – 1.414 kg, 40 cm (3:31 p.m.)

Even in their first days, their personalities shone through: Heitor is serious, Larissa fiery, Lavinia alternates between calm and cries, and Lauren is peaceful and easygoing. 💛

🏡 Coming Home
When the quadruplets were discharged on November 12, neighbors and strangers stopped to admire the rare sight — four naturally conceived quadruplets! The family now focuses on sleep, support, and endless diapers, with Ana Caroline joking,
“That will be the only gift we ask for over the next few years.” 😅
