Saquon Barkley hit with $250,000 blow after Nick Sirianni’s brutal Week 18 decision

Saquon Barkley’s chances of hitting a $250,000 incentive bonus has been hampered after Nick Sirianni’s decision to bench the Philadelphia Eagles star RB for Week 18.

Saquon Barkley will not get the opportunity to hit a $250,000 incentive bonus on his contract this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ superstar running back sits just 87 yards shy of recording a combined 1,500 rushing and receiving yards on the 2025 NFL season.

But Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni’s latest decision has hampered Barkley’s chances of earning his bonus.

With the reigning Super Bowl champions having already clinched the NFC East title and secured their playoff berth, Sirianni has opted to bench the three-time Pro Bowler ahead of their Week 18 clash against the Washington Commanders.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts joins Barkley in being benched by Sirianni in a move to ensure they avoid any risk of injury as they bid their quest to go back-to-back as world champions.

“#Eagles HC Nick Sirianni announced they will rest RB Saquon Barkley in Week 18 in preparation for the playoffs,” FOX Sports posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

Last season, Barkley was denied the chance to chase down Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards – falling just 100 yards short – after being shut down by Sirianni for Week 18.

However, there is still a possibility that the Eagles could adjust Barkley’s incentive target so that he still gets the bonus.

This would follow a trend they set last year when the organization adjusted ex-defensive end Josh Sweat’s contract so that he still got paid for his sack incentive.

Barkley spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New York Giants, but after being able to walk away in free agency, their NFC East rivals snapped him up on a three-year, $37.75 million deal.
